New App Can Take Your Measurements More Accurately Than a Tailor
One of the biggest problems with online shopping is that you can’t try on the clothes before you buy them, so sometimes you have to gamble on whether or not that shirt or those jeans are really going to fit all that well.
MTailor is a new company that will not help customers find clothes that fit, but find clothes that fit perfectly, allowing consumers to dress more sharply. How? With a mobile app that can take customers’ measurements using the front-facing camera of an iPad or an iPhone.
First, customers design their shirts, choosing the kind of fabric they’d like, the collar, the cuff, and more.
Next, customers move on to the sizing process, which is actually really simple. Users just prop their devices against a wall at a certain angle. Then, they strip down for the app, because it needs a person to be shirtless for maximum accuracy. Next, users line themselves up with arms raised at an angle and move in a circle, while the app takes a video. Lastly, they enter their height, and they’re done.
The whole process only takes about five minutes.
Though some may be skeptical of the app’s efficacy, MTailor claims that it can actually get more accurate measurements than a tailor could by as much as 20 percent.
Because it cuts out the cost of having a tailor take measurements, MTailor enables customers to design and purchase high-end, tailored shirts at just $69 each — well below the normal price for such a piece of clothing.
“I think people should identify their body type, many people don’t know the correct sizing for their body,” says Eric Uzelac, Vice President of TheShirtPrinter.com. “Maybe applications like this can help people shop more successfully and help them during their clothing endeavors.”
MTailor’s customers get their shirts about two weeks later after ordering and shipping is free. The company also has a return/refit policy, with a 100% money back guarantee.
